Plus files that are uploaded to FM get processed again. Many times I like my images before they get uploaded and then see what FM has done to them when displayed. Solution is to host your own photos and use a link so that FM doesn't process them in any way.
So far with my A7r I've not seen any obvious compression artifacts even when pushing shadows and highlights around a lot.
I find if I do my own compression to 600 KB or less uploading them to FM doesn't really do anything. This let's you have 1200 pixels on the long side with only minimal jpg compression (usually 10 or 11 in Photoshop).
There are so many wonderful A7 and A7r images on this thread. I am about to by one or the other but both seem to have benefits. Do any of you with an A7 wish you had chosen an A7r or the opposite?
I went with an A7. My hard drive array thanks me (maybe 7000-8000 photos this year, so far). I've processed A7R photos from a friend and online samples and the slowdown on my computer was noticeable (iCore5 with 8 GB ram). I generally download to the computer and import into Lightroom and then leave the computer to cache for an hour or so. This saves alot of frustration and waiting. Probably 70% of my photos are of my family, so the A7R's extra detail wasn't necessary. The A7R is probably a bit pickier with lenses, too. I used the extra $ to buy the FE 35.

No regrets with the A7 over the A7r. I'd love to have an A7r for dedicated landscape stuff, but for literally everything else I shoot, I'd prefer the A7. Shutter, flash sync, 24MP is juuuust right. (except for landscape - I could always use more )
