Playing with two fast 50s (7Artisans F1.05 and the Mitakon F0.95 MKIII), considering one for wide-open, low light settings.
Never fully bonded with the Mitakon 50 in the past, but I probably expected too much.

Flycatchers are for sure skittish. I cropped on both but not that deep; the first image more so than the second. But as you can see I used two different cameras with the first one allowing more cropping. And, yes, the 1200mm did help, of course.

So sorry to hear of your loss and your pain. We went through this twice with our 2 Dachsies (1 due to cancer). You were blessed to have such a loyal and loving friend.

I'm not impressed with this photo from a technical perspective, but imagine my surprise driving down the road in Texas and spotting a bald eagle just hanging out next to the highway. Glad I had my 100-400 on me to document it! First I've ever seen in Texas.
