This is the first image of sequence captured exactly a week ago. The female white-tailed kite was about to grab the mouse that the male carried back but she miscalculated and missed the target. She regrouped and did it the second time around. I posted the complete sequence in the Nature and Wildlife forum here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1661740. Please feel free to check out more images and some background info there. Thank you!

Sigma 24-70/2.8 DG DN for Sony E - another prime-like zoom from Sigma.Slightly below the level of the Sigma 14-24/2.8 Art overall, but very close.I mean real life photography mostly, but excellent laboratory results with this lens are pretty easy achievable.Just a matter of stopping 1-2f stops for perfect sharpness here and there and/or slight correction in LR for barrel (wa end) plus pincushion (tele end) distortion. In turn you got excellent sharpness, contrast and pleasing colour rendition throughout the zoom range plus constant f2,8 and other many other usefull features, like bulit quality, responsive AF,ceteraque.

Please, bare in mind that I am mostly a prime, manual addict, using zooms reluctantly at times. But I simply can not pass over some latest Sigma Art lenses saying nothing. They are significant step forward in my 35 years photographic experience with more than 3000 lenses of all film/digital formats passed through my hands.

Picturesque little town Broumov in Czech republic - this time with Sigma Art 24-70/2.8 DG DN for Sony E.

I took out my old Zeiss-Opton 50/1.5 Sonnar. A cute little lens on the Sony series and not a bad performer. Glowy wide open but to be expected for a lens approximate 68 years old. Focusing requires a helicoid like the VM-E close focus adapter. It works!

Few snapshots with new TTartisan 50mm from evening graffitti tour.
After Phillipe Reeve's review, I was afraid to be disappointed, but for my taste it's good enough for A3 prints, at least for portraits and brick walls even in corners

I used it only once and haven't tried it yet for landscapes.

Portraits are wide open or almost WO, graffities - f4 or f5.6, Sony A7II, Techart adapter, snap-on lens hood from Pentax 67 105/2.4 (cause it suppoused to be prone to flare)

I went to an airshow about 70 miles NW of New York City on Sunday, it was a 270-mile drive (one way) with lots of tolls. But I am a diehard airshow fan so it was worth the trouble. This show was one of the very few airshows in the U.S. that didn't get cancelled. I went to another one in Ocean City, Maryland two weeks ago. That's all the airshows I could attend this year, not including the several flyovers. There will be a huge WWII war birds flyover in Washington DC on Sept 25th. It was planned for May 4th on the 75th anniversary of the V-E Day but got postponed due to the virus situation. There will be over 70 WWII war birds of all sort. For me, it will be less about taking pictures of these war birds but more about witnessing the history and appreciating the sacrifices they made.

This last show I went to was organized as a "drive in" event. They pre-marked hundreds or even thousands of parking spots, with enough space separating the vehicles, next to each parking spot is a marked 6'x20' rectangle like a "play pan" for the vehicle occupants. We were not supposed to leave the rectangle next to our vehicle unless we were going to the portable potty at the end of our row. Overall it was a good setup so that they met the government's Covid guidelines and put up the show. The lighting was challenging most of the time with the sun in and out of clouds and the planes were backlit for the most part. Anyway, here are some shots from the show.

Thanks for looking,

Douglas

All were shot with the A7RIV+100-400+1.4 TC, except the one of the two F-16s crossing each other, that one was shot with the A9+200-600. I brought the A9 with me so I could use the 20 FPS to increase the odds of capturing the exact moment.
