The weather has been dreadful the last couple days. I finally got around to capturing some pictures of the flowers in our garden though! The sunflower lasted just long enough to take a picture of them before the summer storm snapped them in half.

I looked up the list of images I posted and it doesn’t look like this one was posted already. So, here is then Sophie Farfalla on gondola under the bridge in Venice. The water reflection on the underside of the bridge is from the last daylight but some folks already turned the light in the background on.

One of the first landscape images I shot after getting the A7R3 two and a half years ago. I found it going through some of my files and although I believe I've posted it here before, I wanted to give it another viewing. Shot with the Contax 35-70. Great lens. Handheld after running a couple hundred yards to get to the top of a rise before the sun stopped shining on the mountain.

I could not agree more with you.
I took several shots of the Aletsch Glacier with my then-brand-new Sony A7R.
Boy, how I loved that camera! I also had many Zeiss Contax C/Y lenses from the 80s and 90s, among them - the 35-70/3.4.

Because of a strict Covis-19 lockdown in Switzerland, I went back to my old A7R, old lenses, and old shots and reprocessed some of them. Much to my surprise, the results were very appealing to me, and, it seems, to this thread's participants.

Conclusions? Go back to the old shots from time to time, look at them with a different eye, and reprocess some with new tools and more extensive knowledge and experience.
However, there is even a more critical conclusion. Never say never (sorry I just did it), but I will buy neither a new camera nor a new lense. Sony A7R and A7Riii are all I need. The same goes for my lenses.

The new stuff only gives me a headache because I am a slow learner, and its usefulness is usually marginal to me. I should concentrate on taking photos.

Anybody would care to join in the discussion?

Henryk

This time of year, the turtleheads start blooming near the river and they look like beacons in the undergrowth. I was out this morning with an old Minolta Rokkor 100mm telephoto when I saw this one; I dialed down the exposure in post to bring out their luminous quality. Next time I'll have my tripod with me!

Henryk -- Sounds like a great idea for a thread, something to the effect of "X Years Gone: a new look at older Sony images".

I think I have some old external drives around here somewhere! I know I was pretty happy with my a7R and 24-70 Zony zoom.

A few more building shots with the Nikkor 35/2.8 PC, this time trying it mounted with different adapter. Also used screw-in Nikon 52mm metal lens hood without getting any vignetting. Shot at f/8.0, yesterday.

Thank you Jim.
I bet you will find some rough diamonds hiden in your old external drives.
