Some shots from the last couple days. A7RIV, 200-600, the first one was shot with the Sigma 24-70. You all have a good week!
Did you include just some birds in your excellent images, Douglas ? Are those snow geese? Judging by the number, it must have been loud, huh? I love the sound... Keep it up, Douglas !
The snow geese certainly can't compare to your colorful birds from the south! I guess there were over 20,000 snow geese at the location yesterday, the number may peak at 100,000-200,000 in a couple weeks. When they blast off it's thunderous, something pictures can't convey.

The blast off sound is indeed something else and you have to hear it for yourself to experience and appreciate it, especially when they fly overhead. Plus, you may get some extra benefits of.... guano, if you are lucky, that is .
Looking at a (small?) portion of the flock of Snow Geese that had taken off. I would estimate that thousands of Snow Geese had congregated beyond the retention ponds behind our home and onto the flooded land on both sides of the creek on the other side of the retention ponds (on the one side farmers fields were flooded).
Tripod mounted 200-600mm f5.6-6.3 G set to 600mm and A7rIII camera; silent shutter.
ISO 1250, f9, 1/640 second.
Exposure corrected +0.24 Stops.

I love it - what a sight, Rich! Especially since it was taken from your kitchen...

Hi Joshua,
Thank you. I had issues due to the camera being set to Single frame AF with a narrow rectangle for focus so the camera had some problem with finding a focus point. So the image might have been sharper but even stopped down to f9 there wouldn't have been enough DOF to hold much in focus as 600mm. I have to set the camera for C AF and a large rectangle, auto ISO, Shutter Speed Auto with a shutter speed of at least 1/1250 to 1/2000.
More images will be posted in the future both on the ground unfortunately with the fence on the far side of the retention ponds in the foreground and in flight.
My attempt at a bench shot. I forget who often posted these types of shots (I think it was on the alt forum), but I never could seem do justice with any of my attempts.
