Although the noise is noticeable but it doesn't diminish the beauty of that image. You did a great job capturing it, Chuck! So, there was zero adjustment is LR in regards to the noise at all, huh? And you are right, if after you have played with that noise reduction setting, just the masking helps a lot, or run a noise reduction program then, the noise aspect wouldn't be an issue anymore.
Joshua,
Thank you for your kind feedback. I found some time today to redo the original post using the Topaz DeNoise AI program. I really like to result of the reprocessed picture and I feel the impact of the high ISO noise has been diminished enough to create an even better result.

Nice capture!
Just too much noise for my taste - I am sure the 1000 iso you used should provide better results with this camera.
Perhaps you should check which way to process this or use a different denois-software ?
Thanks for the feedback. I found some time today to reprocess the picture using some noise reduction. I ended up using the Topaz DeNoise AI program. I'm happy to say it took very little time to tame the ISO 4000 noise and I reposted the shot.

Best,

The effort was well worth it I think!
Now it really looks like noise is well controlled indeed!
Thanks for reposting!
