Thanks, Douglas. Great shots from the zoo. I'll be in your neck of the woods next month. I remember you posting some very nice shots from around the National Mall a few months ago. I won't have much, if any time for photography, but just in case I manage to get up early, is there anything to pay attention to when taking pictures at sunrise around the National Mall?

Chris thank you very much! I get the work and family priority thing. It certainly happens to me a lot. Looking forward to more of your fine photo work here!

Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta during blue hour. This one was a bit tough to frame since I wanted to include the pedestrian bridge, the skyline, and part of the stadium. There were cars parked to the left of the frame so it limited the composition somewhat. The stadium itself is impressive in person. Love the design of the architecture.
Now for something completely different from cityscape.
One Saturday, I drove up to Cloudland Canyon State Park in Georgie and explored the waterfalls. There are two tall waterfalls that are the main attractions. This one is a bit of a hike to reach but well worth it. Going down isn't tough but it's the climb back up along many stairs that is a good workout.

More from last year. A dark and rainy weekend in Lynmouth, Devon back in November. Handheld in blue hour at high ISO on my previous A7II - that weekend started my move away from predominantly using film!
Looking right after the sun had dropped below the far hill (but about 11 minutes before actual sunset).
Tripod mounted FE 100-400mm GM set to 303mm and A7rIII, silent shutter.

Storm on the horizon. Which do you like?
The color of the light coming from the light pole quite ruins it for me in the first photo, so I’d go for the BW version. However if you can photoshop and change the hue of the artificial light there and steer it to something reddish or violet I think it would work great.

I was there late April to early May and I am still going through my images. Each time, I am amazed at the beauty of Val d'Orcia. Granted, the weather back then made this region special, ranging from foggy morning to cloudy with sun rays shinning through, to brief cloud bursts, to spectacular sunrise/sunset, etc. But what is wonderful about this place is the vistas of gently undulating green fields dotted with cypress trees and "poderes" (farmhouses) although most of them are converted to "agriturismos", or some sort of lodging places.
There were two layers of fog, or clouds I supposed. A lower layer barely covering the city while revealing the bay and a high (cloud) layer moving the other direction just at the top of the frame. Here and there the layers would separate and open up a view of the post-sunset sky. No rain in a while and the particulate in the air turned the sky red.
