My partner and I went ice-skating this weekend and it was absolutely amazing. Fantastic weather and ice. (-14C, but no wind so it didn't feel cold at all.) The white dots are frost and didn't affect the skating.
A7II and CV 35mm/1.7.
When I was in New York City a couple of weeks ago I brought my new 24mm f/1.4 GM and Batis 40mm f/2 lenses with me for some additional testing. I threw the 15CV and Batis 85 into the bag just in case. Well I wasn’t far from Central Park and decided to see if the Mandaran Duck that showed up in October was still hanging around. I really wanted to bring my 100-400 GM +1.4x teleconverter but didn’t want to carry the additional weight. Much to my surprise I went to the Park and sure enough the Mandaran Duck was in fact there and about 75 people were lined up waiting to see it swim around. I used the Batis 85 and set my A7R3 to crop mode for an effective focal length of 127.5mm. Fortunately the duck was not too far from the edge of the pond but some major cropping was necessary
I would normally try to lay down on the ground for a nice birds eye view and a nice blurred out background but with all the spectators crowding the pond’s banks there really was no room to accommodate that shot. Oh well sometimes just getting to see the natural beauty is enough!
Was out on the roof of our condo, waiting for the latest SpaceX launch. It was delayed until tomorrow (and we won't be here).
But, here is a picture of the Vehicle Assembly building from 31 miles away and a picture of the beach with some others that were waiting for the launch.
Usually, the rocket is very easy to see and photograph, even at 30 miles, but it might have been a little more difficult this AM, since the sun was in the same general direction.
Both taken with Sony A9, Canon 600L II, Sigma MC-11 and Sigma 1.4TC for 840 mm.
