This Snowy Egret was watching for fish coming out of the flow pipe (used to control water levels in different cells in the Viera Wetlands). Great Blue Heron looking on.
Second pic is an Anhinga. I had the 1.4TC on the 600L and it was really a little too long that day, so I took it off shortly after this. But, I like the way this one turned out.
Both were handheld, as was the Ibis with the snake that I posted a couple days ago. I carried a tripod with me, but in most cases I did not have time to bother with it. Although it ways a ton, it is possible to handhold the lens for a short period at a time. I had originally planned on using our car to go through Viera, but the gate was closed because of too much mud!

Sunrise on Lake Minnetonka. The ice is at a thickness that huts and shantys are showing up more and more each day. I saw the first car on the ice yesterday too although I think it's still a bit risky for that.

Just got back from my morning bike ride and saw someone sitting in front of a fishing hole on Calhoun, a good 60-70 feet from shore. "Not a chance I'd do that" was my immediate thought.

there are people pretty far out on parts of Minnetonka . . . seems risky to me. I was out a couple of hundred yards ONLY because I see a few shacks and 4-wheelers out there.
Samuli : Congrats to Contax 100-300mm !
I have not been so careful with mine
It has been on both Iceland and lofoten
I'll take it to Faroe Islands too next month
Would be a shame if something happens to mine, but I want to use it on these trips
so I'll have to take the risk of getting " rear element separation " hope not my lens get it
