Fiery sunrise this morning, worth getting up at 4:30 for this.. I use Skyfire app to check the potential for colorful sunrise and sunset, I think their predictions are about 50-60% accurate.
Perched Rufous watching the Sugar Water Feeder, ready to swoop down whenever another Hummingbird dares to get a sip.
Sony ILCE-9 + FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS + 2X Teleconverter @ ISO 1000, FOCAL LENGTH 800.0 mm, APERTURE f/11, EXPOSURE TIME 0.00313s (1/320).
Hummingbirds in whole or in part always seem to be moving. So choosing an exposure time of 1/320 s @ 800 mm is really pushing ones luck. Therefore many images are more or less slightly or significantly out of focus. However, at 20 FPS one still captures quite a few images that are in focus at the desired relatively low ISO.

Helena, in general, I keep my comments at minimum but I would like to let you know that your images are exquisite .

Helena: Actually, I don't really like lensbaby pictures that much..especially when you get too much lens baby effect in the pictures.. usually I'm more fond of your usual lenses.. It is like fisheye pictures .. either you like them or not
but you get a very special feeling in the pictures ..and it is hard not to like them and always super good color in the pictures as usual ... you don't have to check who posted you see directly that it's yours and your style ..
Great work!
Thank you both! Means a lot, especially since I admire your work very much.
Ronny, yes I understand that not everyone likes "special effect" lenses and that's fine of course. It's funny though that you mention fisheye, because I like the Lensbaby look but not fisheye.
Some stuff. First one is from CV 21/1.8 and the rest CV 35/1.7.
No disrespect intended towards other birds but thanks to your pictures and those of xpfloyd the puffin is definitely my favourite bird. I’m wondering if you’ve heard of a puffin being kept as a pet?
