Checked today how tubes and extender works with Metabones III & Carl Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 2/50 ZE. I didn't like tubes, but 2x seemed better. Using 2x also removed field curvature, when shoot from medium and far distances.
Hi Samuli,
Are you saying the tubes caused field curvature, which the extender avoided, or are you saying the 50MP has field curvature, which the extender corrected?

Not really either one of your options, closer to 2nd option if it would be mandatory to choose.
"Bare" lens when used outside makro/close-up range has very steep field curvature in corners. 2x extender basically magnifies center part of image, and due to it gets rid off field curvature. Lens doesn't have significant field curvature on makro range, as the lens extends and smaller part of projected image circle is recorded by sensor/film.

Looks good to me, Werner! But that 18 has got to be very front heavy, especially with the III adapter too!
Gregg, Metabones III has Arca-Swiss profile in bottom, any EF lens is great on tripod.

I figured as much. Most if my adapters have a mount, too. But I just don't get out(with enough time) to use tripod. Most of my shots are either while working, or out and about with my kids. Hopefully, with our upcoming trip to Hawaii, I'll be able to sneak out before the kids are awake to do some tripod shots in the wee hours!!

OK I see. There are different opinions, but I find these cameras next to impossible shoot handhold with small lenses (e.g. FE35). The camera is so small and button placing/feel so awkward that for handhold stuff I prefer as big and heavy lens as possible; hold the lens and camera just hangs in back, and right hand can be free to find the small badly working buttons. My favorite handholding lenses are 1.4/35 and 2.8/21 (Zeiss ZE), which both are gigantic in A7(r).

Hint! If you have cheap ebay adapters with tripod foot (and haven't been using them), make sure you
a) add suitable small skrewdriver (or hex key) for the adapter tripod foot skrews in your camera bag
b) you have added skrew glue to the small skrews at home
Why: I have lost possible good shots because I didn't do a and b. Almost all the ebay adapter tripod foots get loose at some point. After doing b I haven't had issues.
Great shots with the g45 Derek! I really like the first shot at 2.2...
Samuli...thanks for the info for the tripod foot mounts. I will take that into serious consideration! Especially since I haven't once put the A7 on tripod yet!

Not really Gregg, the combination is quite nice, size wise and handles well. I have to now only used it handheld.
The Distagon 21 is big, too big for me with the A7.

Thanks for sharing, very interesting to see how similarly to the noctilux f1 the lens renders for some of the shots.
