Out and about at the Little Sable Point Lighthouse the other evening. All taken on the 7r2, the first two with the Batis 18 and the last two with the CV10.

Here is another image of another bathing hummingbird taken with the same FE 70-300mm G lens. This lil' guy was perching on a fern frond a little further away from me. The entire frond with the hummer on top was swaying in the wind during the rain. I also took a video clip of the event; the experience was truly something else.
Back to the lens' aspect - I believe the GM 100-400mm is a better lens than the 70-300mm. And the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8 IS Mark II, being a faster, super prime lens, leaves both behind in the dust. Check out the second image, taken with the Canon lens plus a 1.4X TC after the rain had stopped. The difference is visible. My last Canon body was the 5D Mark III, and from what I could see from my experience in the last several years of using this lens, the A7r II truly brings out the best out this lens.
