Mike, thanks for that shot of the Samyang 35, looking good! Ronny, I'd say you had a worth while trip.

After reviewing some film recently I was impressed by the Bronica 50/2.8 for the ETRS. So I decided to get an adapter and try it on the A7II. The adapter might go back, too tight to mount, but still impressed by the lens!

I like the images a lot. Not surprising, though, that it is so consistent from WO to stopped down (one of your comments with an image). You are projecting a medium format lens onto a 35mm sensor. Similar to taking a good FF lens and projecting it onto a cropped sensor. You are seeing only the center part of the projection, where the lens should be the most consistent. I saw the same thing when using a Hasselblad 80 or 150 on a Canon FF body.

For me, though, I actually like the edge effects of lenses (except when shooting landscapes or architecture), as I think that the edge softness and vignetting can be an asset in other subject matter.

Weight of the Bronica 50 is actually nicely distributed, even if it is bulky for an a7 series.

Have been too busy to check in here in recent months. Finally getting back to processing some of the pictures that have been sitting on my SD cards.

Some oft the most recent ones, not quite up to the high standard of this thread but of an interesting place with cold war remnants.

Fischbach Ordnance Depot, near Dahn, Germany. It was rumoured that the US kept chemical weapons here, but it turned out that those (Sarin/VX) were stored in nearby Clausen Ordnance Depot from which they were removed around 1990 and destroyed in the Pacific.

All taken with A7ii, Contax G Biogon 28mm with PCX front filter

How do you feel this Canon? One of my friends just bought a used one for his 5DMk3 and he has been disappointed for the front zoom ring (opposite position to other Canon zoom) which seems to be a nightmare... probably it is just a matter of habit...

True, and good point. Still expected to see some central improvement but it was very hard to spot. Even though it’s the center it’s still an old lens design, this was an MC variant. I do like vignette as well, and it actually has a bit, but I'd rather have sharp edges than blurry if I get a choice!

And agreed, on the A7 it's a bit odd looking, especially with the shape of the adapter but it wasn't uncomfortable to use. Might try the 75 as well this weekend.

Hi Manuel, I did find it a bit weird at first but you get used to it pretty quick, on my 5D mk11 it was one of my favourite lens, very good close up as well, I hope your friend enjoys it.

Cheers Ray

Outstanding shots. You really make Contax Zeiss C/Y lenses sing.

Thanks! Zeiss lenses from 1990s and early 2000s have my favorite rendering style. Maybe technically not perfect lenses, but for me rendering style compensates many issues.

The day started rainy and dreary but the sun came out in the afternoon and warmed up enough that we out on the lake. Last weekend for boating before we put it away for the season. Late afternoon light was wonderful on this oriental style boathouse.
