Confession. When Helena started showing images taken with a Russian 50mm monocle lens, I didn't know what to think about them - way outside my photo comfort zone, but I need to try new things so here is my first effort with this very strange lens the monocle 50 mm. It is very unusual to shoot and it makes images that are challenging to process.

Dale -- Looks like you've got a lens that can really capture some "Old West" vibe on the Southwest areas! I'm curious how you use it on Washington scenes and travel. Bravo for expanding your zone of expertise!

Me too! Loving the Monolens examples. Mine appears to be stuck in customs - it should be here soon. I'm going to try it in Amish farm areas - the old farmhouses and implements should work well with it.
A couple of shots from the garden at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, New York. First is a predawn shot about 30 minutes before the sun rises above the tree line.
Stayed away for too long to remember all the deserving 'togs, but here is a shortlist of superlative work: Joshua, René, Jim, Dale, Douglas, Samuli, Werner, Philip_pj, Sholt, Jim, Digital_AM, Martin, Mathieu, Daniel, Jim, Phillip, Peire, MedicineMan, Chuck..... Whew!
Day 2 of playing with my new A7R II. Took it on a hike. Nothing special here just want to get in the habit of sharing. Immediately am noticing the weight difference in this new kit (Batis 18mm, 35mm 2.8, Batis 85mm) from my old canon (5d iii, 16-35, 35, 70-200). Obviously not equal lenses, but still the intention moving to Sony was a lighter kit and I felt the difference after 8 miles today. Also, the sensor detail/shadow recovery, and the sharpness of the 18mm Batis is blowing me away. Hope to have more for you all in the coming weeks.
