I'm getting along very well with the Loxia 50, that replaced the FE 55. It's not quite as nice as the old ZF 50/1.4, but very close. And smaller of course. There is just more "presence" and pop than the FE gives, at the cost of harsher bokeh (which is still very nice at short distances). Colors are also fantastic.
I love these. Fantastic composition and bold use of color.

Very very nice... great catching moments plus lines and geometry
Also #2 not lined up it works very well in this way (with straight vertical line it would have been less interesting)
One problem with the FE 55/1.8 is that it's so annoyingly good, and consistent, and works wonders in low light. Other than that, it's a reprehensible lens that gives users a certain guilty pleasure when it fails outright, lol. I often use this one when I'm tired and just want a great image with little effort. Tongue-in-cheek of course, it's a cracking lens with few issues.

I meet the finest people; note the LoCA in his hair, naughty FE55
Daniel -- I like the photo, but not the digital blurring. Sorry to say that it makes the nice shot look a little cheesy. No offence intended, just thought you should know -- I've seen it artificially added to a number of your otherwise excellent photos.
This thread is amazingly good. It is a learning experience and a visual feast.
Confession. When Helena started showing images taken with a Russian 50mm monocle lens, I didn't know what to think about them - way outside my photo comfort zone, but I need to try new things so here is my first effort with this very strange lens the monocle 50 mm. It is very unusual to shoot and it makes images that are challenging to process.
