I was at the burrowing owl site in the afternoon, hoping for capturing owl activities in a more pleasing lighting. It turned out to be a complete failure. The owls just hung around without doing much of anything. It was windy, too. So, they protected themselves behind some rocks near their burrows. On the way back home, I saw an owl and the sun was about to set. I pulled over and got my gear out but the owl disappeared into its burrow. Rats! Then I saw the sunset, and I ended up taking pictures of some bushes silhouetted against it.
Then the owl came out again while I was taking sunset image. I sneaked back and took ome images of the owl with the sun setting but from a quite a distance without spooking him again. I need to work on them. In the meantime, I will go ahead post this one first......Show more →
This is awesome Joshua. Pretty great consolation prize when the owl didn't want to cooperate.

Thank you, Alfredo! Yes, I take whatever I can get . One thing I noticed today, the sunset was fast now, indicating the days are getting shorter and shorter. The sun from hanging in its entirety above the horizon until it disappeared entirely under the horizon in about 6 minutes....
Well, I'm back after a couple months hiatus from posting while I accumulated images without a computer or internet! Tough times for a guy with a hot new 12-24/4G on his hands.
Here's an architectural shot that suited the lens pretty well. I tried this on a few others with the intent of traditional building perspective, but haven't gotten around to processing any yet.
Messing around with my new FE12-24. This image was taken with 16 exposures in the Smooth Reflection app and was processed in LR and Luminar. It was a very windy morning as well.
Two more from this morning with the FE 12-24. The first is a single 5 sec exposure. The second is used the smooth reflection app (32 images). Both processed with LRCC and Luminar (Mac).
Here is a shot with A7r2, FE 100-400, 1.4x TC and plenty of time to focus.
But I was losing too many shots due to focus hunting, low frame rate, and slow buffer emptying.
So I prefer to use the A9 in situations in which those things matter.
