These are great! I really like how you've used the long lens to totally compress the space.

Thanks! I discovered that the top deck of a cruise ship afforded an unusual high stable platform above sea level for just this sort of image compression. It is like a drone view, but with a telephoto perspective instead of a wide angle. Fun!

My favorite thing about photography is that I look back on a picture and remember in such vivid detail what I experienced. Yesterday, with the eclipse, was a great day to remember.

The clouds somewhat disturbed our eclipse viewing, but it was still incredible...plus, got to spend the day with my best friend : )

Gotta clean my sensor :/ hopefully I caught all the dust.

Derek, your location was just perfect for the eclipse from yesterday and what a great way to showcase the event . We have to wait 7 years to be able to take images like yours.

Dave -- I don't want to come across as some weirdo fanatic, but you are getting the sort of pleasing results that I love from the Loxia 35. I love the color and contrast. Naturally, you are picking a good (vast!) subject to photograph, and doing your homework on time and lighting. Excellent example, and I know there are amazing details in the trees. So far, the Loxia's have been the best lenses I've ever used for my "style" of nature and city.

I agree Jim...the Loxias are perfect for most of my interests as well. The colors and overall rendering very much appeals to me. I do not like the 35mm wide open, but as a landscape/cityscape/architecture lens it is outstanding. In my perfect-world scenario I want the FE 35mm 1.4 for wide-open shooting and the Loxia 35mm for everything else.

Presently I am deciding how important a fast 35mm is to me as to whether I'll add the FE 35mm 1.4 or not.

Lovely shots. I see some green fringing and, of course, this kind of subject is made to induce CA. Having said that, for these shots, I am not sure whether it adds or detracts from the picture!

Quick shot during totality.

I was located at the Weatherby rest stop on I-84 half way between Baker City and Ontario Oregon. Me and ~200 others had the same location in mind. There were some JPL employees there as well (with much better gear) and they said this apparently was one of the prime spots in all of the Western United States for viewing the eclipse.

Very very short two and a half minutes!!

Thank you for the nice comment my friend. My thoughts are yours. I find it supports the 'lines'. It is guaranteed not perfect. But I very seldom aspire to perfection in the picture. I almost always work on 'feeling'. from time to time. It goes wrong

Really like the look of your flower shots Ronny. You make excellent use of the 100 MP (and Zeiss 100-300) in so much of what you do. However, your flower shots are quite different in look. Do you do some reduction of saturation? Whatever your technique, it is refreshing to see flowers with a look you can call your own.
