Looks Good Phillip, any chance you could try it on ext tubes? Just curious how the performance will hold up and if this lens can fill in for a 1:1 macro with tubes

I don't own any E-mount tubes and I am not sure that I would like to spend 170€ on good quality Kwnko adapters which would not quite get me to 1:1. Maybe I'll ask Bastian to borrow me his. I wouldn't dare to use cheap ones because of some scary reports of damaged cameras.

I have a bit of catching up to do, so many great images here.
Joshua, not sure what I can add to the superlatives that have already been used to describe your work. Kudos
So sorry for those i've not mentioned, so much quality work here it's a job to keep up with it
Hi John,
Thank you! I am very flattered.... Great images using the Leica APO there.

Yeah, sure, why the heck why not but we need to leave the kids and wife at home .

I just came back from my favorite owl site and used my favorite Canon lens plus two 1.4X TCs. While I love the rendition, sharpness and everything about the lens but the AF, even on the A9 leaves a lot to be desired. Except for a few images from a bunch of tracking sequences, they are all OOF..... . That''s a big let down. But for semi-stationary birds though, that lens did deliver. I do have another trick I want to try but the lighting conditions became too harsh fast. Either tomorrow or next week and if it still doest deliver then I will be just using the Sony FE 100-400mm for BIFs.

I'm down! I'll let you explain to my wife and kids they can't come!
Great owl grab! Love the rendering of the 400L
John...really like the 100 APO grabs!
Ronny...love the 16 ai. It's really a fantastic lens(as they all are in your hands!!)...

Leica APO-Elmarit-R 180mm f/2.8 @ f/5.6, 1/100s, A7 (Kolari v2) @ ISO 125, Carl Zeiss T* POL Filter (circular) 67mm - Tried to produce this kind of rendering style of scene, but it's much easier to achieve with Carl Zeiss APO-Sonnar 135. Pretty close, but I'm not perfectly happy - more practice, maybe one day I get there also with Leica 180APO.
Impressed by most images here, as usual... I usually prefer color pictures but I've to say last b/w posts from Gregg, Bob (last one on the precedent page), Werner and also Joshua some days ago (the pretty girl on the sea side) are gorgeous Sorry if I forgot to mention someone but this thread is super fast

Oh! I didn't know about issues with possible damage. Not used any e-mount ones yet
Thank you for the likes everyone. Jenni, I'd love to see your contributions, but the links don't seem to work as intended. I (and many FM users) would be happy to help you out. Feel free to reach out. Thanks
Tried out solar filter today practicing for the eclipse Monday (praying for clear skies). My setup is a Leica 280/4 apo, have both the 1.4 and 2x apo extenders, and am using an 18 stop formatt eclipse filter. I tried shooting the sun with a 2x extender and then with stacked 2x and 1.4x. Thinking for totality trying for corona, I may just do the 2x for 560mm but still debating about stacking both 1.4x and 2x as in the larger image below.
I am a novice here, as I just received the a7rII. currently using it exclusively with my canon lenses. Has not had much of a chance to shoot with it yet, but here are some shots.
