I really like your baby pics taken with the rokkor 58/1.2. Lovely rendering. I have a baby coming soon as well so I'm thinking of looking for one of these lenses. Are there any other lenses in this focal range (50-60mm manual or af) that you think are worth considering? Thanks.

thanks!
i really think the rokkor 58/1.2 is the best around for that type of gentle glowy rendering. for a cheaper somewhat similar option, the rokkor 55/1.7 is also quite good:
the c/y or rollie 50/1.4 will give you more pop and funkier bokeh:
i like any of the pentax 50/1.4 variants and olympus OM 50/1.4 as well. they all have a different style. i tend to prefer minolta (or leica) and zeiss for color...
Is this thread moving faster than usual or am I imagining it?
Another image to add to the speed then . Almost everybody is smitten by the new GM, and understandably so. I am bucking the trend somewhat. Sorry.... . The first image is a crop taken with an adapted lens plus a 1.4X TC and the second one is the full size image.
Went to a Mulligan Brothers concert in a local venue that had HORRIBLE lighting--sun from behind the band and then after it went down, almost no light. Took a few pics from the sides and liked a couple. Was using TAP for AF.
First few were with Leica R apo 180/2.8 wide open on A7rii:
Missed focus on the next one a bit I think but still liked the look of the image and it shows the oof highlights--the lens is really well corrected.
