We forewent base camp because you can barely see Everest from there. Kalla Patthar is going a bit higher, 5700 meters, but gives a great view of the entire range. Most groups go at sunrise, but this would put the sun behind Everest. We went for sunset and had a nice array of clouds.
Yes there is earthquake damage to a greater or lesser extent all throughout the trip. Honestly its most obvious back in Kathmandu where entire temples are leveled. I also saw a lot of rebuilding, this time with rebar. These are both from Kathmandu:
Also the farther up the trail you go, the fewer buildings there are. Wooden ones seemed to have fared well. We saw quite a few stone and mortar ones that had been abandoned.

I'm finally getting around to processing some of the quick street scenes that I shot while in New Orleans on business a couple of weeks ago. I brought with me the A7r2 with the 35mm f/1.4 Distagon ZM and my 85mm Tele Tessar ZM both using the TechArt Pro Adapter. This was prior to my front end filter modification using the Optimasigma .5 filter on the 35mm Distagon ZM.

Are you going to climb up? That would be awesome! I didn't even make it to the base camp a few years back. However, I did take some images of the Everest from a special touring plane and it was an awesome experience. They cancelled the flight the day before and we had to wait for another day due to the bad weather. The same plane crashed a few weeks later . I am not sure whether they actually offer that service anymore.

They do offer it We were standing around the airport at KTM waiting to hear if our flight to Lukla was going to be cancelled again and this huge throng of Chinese tourists came in with Phase One's around their necks. I assumed they were trekkers but no they were in line for the mountain scenic flight.
We ended up going by helicopter up to Lukla
Helicopter only takes cash...I went and drained the ATM. (Apologize for this gauche display of personal resources but it's not really that much money in USD and the trip wasn't going to happen without it)
Group at the other end who were also stuck with weather eager to get back to Kathmandu
(and here is some FE content so someone doesn't get mad with me mucking up this topic with iphone photos)
Cape Cod missed the blizzard yesterday but saw the brunt of the winds which were up to ~80mph I believe. This morning I walked down a barrier beach at Chatham which has been getting washed over at high tides. Still very windy and a sky that tried but failed to clear until the end of the hike. The sensor showed me cool images under the clouds so I went with it ...
