Are you going to climb up? That would be awesome! I didn't even make it to the base camp a few years back. However, I did take some images of the Everest from a special touring plane and it was an awesome experience. They cancelled the flight the day before and we had to wait for another day due to the bad weather. The same plane crashed a few weeks later . I am not sure whether they actually offer that service anymore.
They do offer it We were standing around the airport at KTM waiting to hear if our flight to Lukla was going to be cancelled again and this huge throng of Chinese tourists came in with Phase One's around their necks. I assumed they were trekkers but no they were in line for the mountain scenic flight.
We ended up going by helicopter up to Lukla
Helicopter only takes cash...I went and drained the ATM
Group at the other end who were also stuck with weather eager to get back to Kathmandu
