I had to buy from the Japan ..I've been looking in Europe for a long time without finding an ex
And neither I managed to fool Wilhelm and Manuel or their either

Manuel
Once again, a very striking and beautiful Walter Utsch photo. Mysterious, intense with implied meaning, harsh yet very engaging.
Walter--might you be willing to share some details on how you expose and process your images. I would certainly understand if you did not wish to discuss those details, but many would be interested and would learn from you if you were.

Thx for the compliment !
No mystery in exposure or processing here.
Exposure in this case is F11@ 1/50 ISO 100. The IR (715) converted A7R needs about + 2/3 EV EV compensation dialed in at the cam the rest is auto exposure.
Processing is done pure in LR.
First step is applying a custom made WB profile for infrared, the rest is BW conversion more or less regular to taste.
The colour channels adjustment is special and important with IR pics.
That's about it.

Hope that helps !

(not Walter btw)
Thanks, Werner. (Sorry about the misnaming!)
Never having shot infrared, I have no feel for what the channel adjustments might contribute to the image.

In short: Because the 'colours' in IR are quite different the conversion of each of these to grey tones is very different too.
You can get in very deep shadows , almost black, still quite good detail.....
Is there no hunting in Portland or why does it approach so close? Where I live there are quite a few deer but they would never let anyone approach nearly as close.

Great shots, Mike and Fred (the 16-35/4 is not bad at all...)
That is very interesting about the details in almost black areas--and it is one of the elements that you use so well in your photographs. Thank you for the explanations.

there are a lot of restrictions on where and when you can hunt. deer near the city seem pretty brazen and this guy has obviously been fed by people. initially he seemed spooked, but when i reached into my bag to pull out my camera he came closer expecting me to pull out a treat. i need to bring an apple or something with me next time.
