Walter--might you be willing to share some details on how you expose and process your images. I would certainly understand if you did not wish to discuss those details, but many would be interested and would learn from you if you were.

No mystery in exposure or processing here.
Exposure in this case is F11@ 1/50 ISO 100. The IR (715) converted A7R needs about + 2/3 EV EV compensation dialed in at the cam the rest is auto exposure.
Processing is done pure in LR.
First step is applying a custom made WB profile for infrared, the rest is BW conversion more or less regular to taste.
The colour channels adjustment is special and important with IR pics.
That's about it.

Never having shot infrared, I have no feel for what the channel adjustments might contribute to the image.
In short: Because the 'colours' in IR are quite different the conversion of each of these to grey tones is very different too.
You can get in very deep shadows , almost black, still quite good detail.....
