Re: the seagull. You have quick reflexes in addition to an excellent picture.
Thank you very much, Michael! With the lag of our mirrorless system in general and the A7r II in particular, it was more luck than anything else. I was aware of that and pulled the trigger shortly before the seagull was about to pass in front of that opening.... fortunately.
Here are two additional images from that special rock at Pfeiffer Beach... The first one was captured from the side to accentuate the light beam and the second a little bit later on that day when the sun was even lower. Smooth Reflection App was used for the second one.

Can't call that one a filler, Dave - its a gorgeous shot - what a landscape!
Well I did not say I wasn't going to give it my best shot! Thanks!!
And since I'm posting - here's another Zion NP narrows shot taken with A7r and CV12mm E-mount. This has turned into one of my favorite UWA landscape lens! Dave

That is fantastic Dave! [beautiful image + great encouraging comment on the CV 12. I got the Laowa 12mm, but I'm tempted to try out the CV 12 and sell or return the one I like least]

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas. Mine was really good because I spent some of it in the woods. This is a handheld 5-exposure HDR (merged in LR) with the Batis 25mm at f/8:
Looking from the edge of Big Meadows across Skyline Drive toward Byrd Visitor Center
Tripod mounted A7r and Leica M 90mm f2.5 Summarit lens
ISO 200, f11,1/100 second; processed in LR6.4
The weather has been kind of awful here of late. First there was bitter cold, then rain and wind and now cold and wind. I took a couple of snaps mostly because I just have this desire to photograph something!
That does look quite cold Bob. It was very nearly the warmest Christmas Day on record here in the south of the UK.
Loxia 21 (on A7RII) shots of a Boxing Day walk along HELL LANE. An ancient sunken track or holloway that (along with a few others nearby) was the inspiration for parts of Geoffrey Household's superb 1939 novel Rogue Male.
Thank you, Manuel! I almost forgot to reply... well, I got side-tracked and I actually did . Sorry...
My intention was to take pictures of the sunset at the western point of Pacific Grove that day. As I was driving I noticed how the sun light was filtered through some tree branches at a golf course. Fine dust kicked up by golf carts made it interesting. I pulled over and took a few images and this is one of them.
