I took and posted images of burrowing owls here previously. That was in early summer of this year; there were easily some 16-18 owls at 5-6 burrows or so back then. Yesterday, two shooting buddies and I went back to the same location and to our disappointment, we saw only a single owl. Well, two actually, but the last one ducked inside a burrow and not to be seen again. So, there was only this guy left for us to take pictures of.
The difference between the images back then and now is the gear. I am using my favorite long lens now and I added a 2X TC for a longer reach. Even at wide open, this combo didn't disappoint me. Please note that I still had to crop the image as this guy is quite skittish. That's where the 42MP comes in handy. It flew away shortly after the last image.... It was simply too close for comfort.

I got distracted for just over one day and tons of amazing pictures here... I'm impressed by the level of this thread. Kudos everyone
Special thanks for sharing Laowa 12mm and Loxia 85mm images. About Loxia 85, after a very cold welcome and interest at the beginning, I have to say seems a pure Zeiss... although it is difficult to evaluate having regard to the ability and the skill of the photographer. René, never end to surprise me

Another image from White Pocket, from a water pool there. I posted a similar image before but I put more emphasis on the foreground here and it is in B&W for a change.
