Still using Minolta Alpha mount lenses on the A7R. This is one of my favorite portrait lenses, the Minolta 100mm f2, manually focused very quickly using Sebboh's method of looking for "shimmers" in the EVF.

Derek, on Sony A7/R with most wide(r) RF lenses there is always potential penalty to pay for size & weight reduction, but I don't feel it's that bad in case of Biogon 2/35. In fact stopped down it looks equally good to Distagon 2/35 ZF, which again may not be the champ in infinity region. Also, I noticed that lower L-R corners are affected more than upper ones; adapter issue (scooter shot @ f/2.8 below)?
As you said, great images don't necessarily need technically perfect lenses. Summicron-R 35 is a perfect example and so many others. For me, Zeiss Biogon 2/35 is worth keeping as yet another 35mm just for its size & sexy looks.

There was a five alarm fire from an under construction apartment building in the Mission Bay district of SF yesterday. It was close to where Derek works and he posted some great close up photos of the fire in the RX1(R) image thread. I thought I'd post this photo so he can see what the fire looked like from three miles away in the Marina.
Leica R 50mm 'Cron @ f/2 - there is something about the character of this 30 year old lens that is extremely attractive. Not as clinical as the newer, modern lenses; i.e. Zeiss FE 55 f/1.8 but I find the images produced are moody almost?
"Green deathray " (FE35 @ A7 with polarizer, I have exact same shot with bare lens and results are similar but I prefer this polarizer version as the green ray is little more saturated and hillside on right look 1000x better due to polarization)
PS. See how well FE35 maintained contrast - with better sensor this lens will be real killer on "sun in the frame"-photos. Waiting for next generation of FE-mount...
