Beautiful!

Sadly my first thought when I saw "M42" was of screwmount lenses--I'm sure I'm not the only one here though!

That is one interesting looking building. Great shot! By the way, how did you solve perspective distortion in the first image? I would think without a shift lens, that kind of shot should usually have one.

JaKo - here are a few with the CV35/1.2 on the A7 stopped down. I don't know what aperture, probably at least f/4 and no more than f/8 on each.

Amazing!! You gotta have a tutorial on how to shoot stars like that. My feeble attempt just resulted in a bunch of bright dots covering the sky.

Thanks, it seems that you easily detected potential compromises and pain of dealing with it.
I found this fairly newly developed building last night and quickly packed Zeiss 2.8/21 and Leica Elmarit-R 28 as safe bets. This morning during work I quickly researched the location and drove there after work just to discover that in reality all was much larger and required totally different shooting perspective (see, all the pro-photogs images I checked were already edited to death so I set myself for disappointment)

Anyhow, back to your question; trapezoid correction in Adobe RAW was my friend to slightly align perspective, but also nature or rather landscaping crew helped by building an elevation pod vis a vis the building approximately to 2 floor so shooting on tripod ameliorated distortion issue. At the end, 21 mm was too wide as it included too much of sidewalk info where 28mm captured just fine for the scene.

Thank you Taylor! Switching from FF DSLR to A7R got me thinking that size/weight reduction of the camera itself will do but getting a smaller RF lens and using smaller SLR glass quickly spoiled the show and made me look into RF alternatives. Wide angle RF below 35mm appear are no go , but I can be more than happy with 35+50mm RF walk around combo leaving heavier lenses for car-by-shooting (Zeiss)
Shortly I will have to decide between CV35/1.2 and Zeiss Biogon 2/35 but my feeling is either one will do.

Jack, unless you need the speed (f/1.2) I don't see an advantage in replacing your zeiss ZF.2 35/2 with the voigt. The voigt has a beautiful character ~ wide open. But I almost always reach for my cron 35 or zeiss 35 for their versatility.

Weight wise the voigt is 471grams vs 530 for the zeiss ZF. Now the Biogon is 240 grams so half the weight so that may be advantageous if your goal is weight reduction. From a pure optics standpoint, I sold my voigt 35/1.2 and kept the cron 35 and ZF 35. Haven't used the biogon so cant comment on that.

Hi .. This thread is a great source of inspiration! I've been experimenting with the A7r these days, trying my ZF and Nikkor lenses. Hope you like all the images.
