Rich...great grab of the Milky Way!
Joshua...Damn! I have got to get out and shoot something other than my kids, dog, or Santa Cruz! Those Bodie images are fantastic. Really! If I remember correctly, Dale was there last year and he had some image too!

Thanks, Gregg! Didn't you go to the City and watch the Giants recently?
BTW, there are several spots on the Eastern Sierra that you can visit. So far, I have posted images only from two. Let me know if you feel like going. Take off a few days and enjoy. It is not that far away from Santa Cruz and on the way, you can spend some time in Yosemite.
Small tear in my eye I just sent away my dear Zeiss 21
I now hope that the new lens coming home to me next week
And I hope I get a good copy .. Loxia 21
Also sold my Sony A7 and bought Loxia 50 .. will get it in a few weeks
I hope I will be satisfied with these lenses
Ronny...sorry to hear you sold your ZF21. I know I'll miss your images with it. As I'm sure everyone else will! But, on the other hand, you will be surprised at how good the Loxia 21 is. And is viewers will reap the benefits of your progress and trials with it!!
And the Loxia 50 is a superb lens. You can almost do no wrong with it. Obtain focus and let it go its magic! My preference is f2.5 most of the time. But wide open for a little glow for portraits works really nice IMO as well. Landscapes with it will blow you away. Very similar to your Contax 35-70 @50, but sharper wo and a tad better to the corners. And it has wonderful sunstars(as does the 21 too)!!
I for one, look forward to seeing your forthcoming work!!

Joshua....I'm in. Let me know! I'm off for a month...long story, I jacked up my left hand doing work at home. Now I can't work work. My dad has a house just outside Yosemite on Hwy 120 so I could stage from there.
Peter...love that first one! I was under the impression that C/Y 180 wasn't all that?? Your pics(all of them) with it are showing the lens to be quite nice. Hmmmmm......

In its heyday Bodie was a boomtown in the wild, wild west. There were 10 or so saloons, where miners drank and gambled. In addition, there was a red light district . No wonder that rowdy and disorderly conduct was the order of the day, er, night. Reportedly, there was at least one killing/murder everyday and considering the population of 5,000-6,000 the number was quite high.
As such, the funeral service there did apparently well, too. This carriage was displayed in the Bodie Museum that houses a lot of artifacts from Bodie's past.
I took out a forgotten lens today for a test run in my back yard. I bought this Nikon - Nikkor 300mm ED f/4.5 lens back a couple of years ago when I started to experiment with mirrorless using an Olympus OMD-EM1. The 300mm becoming a 600mm on the micro 4/3 format. Well I decided to give it a go on the A7r2 and I'm pleased with the results. It is a manual focus lens so focussing is very precise and smooth. The A7r2's IBIS, focus peaking and magnification makes it very easy to use. It is a well built all metal lens but is fairly small for a 300mm lens. Slow at f/4.5 but for landscape work it really does well.
All taken handheld at f/8 except the first which was at f/5.6.

Don't get much opportunity to use f10 on the FE55 / a7r, here is one such, at ISO 80.
PS Whenever I read the desire for good DR is exaggerated, I think of this shot. It uses the fine grading of bright highlights to show toning on the shoulder of the chorten and to show the outline of the far ridge line through the bright dust storm and ultra UV. Front needs decent shadow detail too.
