Trompe D'Oil behind the people
A great and intriguing image, Werner but I couldn't make out what that actually is. The background looks like painted - is that painted? I assume it is since you described it as Trompe D'Oil. The people in silhouette - are they real? The title says "Cave" - is that more like a tunnel? Thanks!
Yes, it is a painting of a landscape at the end of a tunnel (of plants). The people watching the painting are real on a visiting tour (regular visitors don't come that close, you should watch the scene from the point i was standing).
Symbolising the convergence of nature and culture - the park becoming a painting and vice versa.
The whole park is full of such plays: Ruins, statues a mosque, a water plant etc. all 'faked' for the pleasure of the mastermind, Carl Theodor, the Kurfürst.
Ohhh, I see where this is going... I never had clean knees on my dress pants when I was their age! It seemed impossible to keep from getting grass or mud stains on my good clothes.
My travel laptop choked trying to stitch in Photoshop, just not enough horsepower or memory, but Microsoft ICE to the rescue. This shot is a 9 image stitch via the A7Rii + MB T iv + EOS 24-70/4.
To me this image typifies why the WestFiords was my favorite area of Iceland=beautiful, extremely isolated, desolate, and ethereal. A place where (maybe just because of the time we chose to be there) you can go days without seeing another human....but also the place that gave me nightmares about the drive out (from Latreberg the road was indeed interesting with major drop offs of hundreds of feet straight down with no guard rails and parts of the road imploding).
If I ever return to Iceland the WestFiords will be the first place I go.
Photo taken from an overlook in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia taken at 4:37 PM on June 5, 2015. Image taken with my tripod mounted A7r and my Minolta CLE MC 40mm f2 M-Rokkor lens, ISO 100, lens set to probably f11 for 1/320 second. Processed in LR6.
A sot taken with my A6300 while out of town on a business trip. No tripod with me so I braced the camera against a brick wall. It's not perfect but I still like how it rendered. This in front of a fantastic restaurant in the Georgetown section of Washington, DC on the waterfront called Farmers Fishers Bakers. They also have another fantastic restaurant closer to the White House called Founding Farmers. All farm to table concept menu.
