Got my first sony camera in over a decade the other day, a used a7r with the kolari sensor mod. Here is a photo of my dog to test the set up, lens is a 50mm summilux asph from Leica.

^^ Holy macro 2X! Bravissimo!
That's an expression of astonishment, Manuel, just in case you missed it !
Thank you very much Joshua
After that session I realized I'm a genius (aka stupid)... My camera was updated to FW 1.01 so I discovered for sure focus button on lens didn't work at all and probably also OSS didn't work properly. Immediately updated to FW 3.10

From our backyard. A7R2 + MBIV + TS-E 24 II, hand-held, with a modest amount of shift, too keep things level and straight. The viewfinder level tool is handy!
gorgeous tree, almost doesn't look real. What kind is it?

Charles, Great shots with the Smooth Reflection App. I've used it on a few images and it usually takes around 40 to 60 images. I noticed yours had 128. Did you set it for more combined images. Second question for anyone, Is there a way to cancel once you have started taking a shot with the app? A couple of times I've forgot to exit it and then taken a picture only to have to wait for it to finish.
Butch
A few shots taken with the Asahi Auto-Takumar 105 2.8 and A7II.
Thank you Butch I use the Custom tab and just experiment with the number of shots. I have not tried to cancel the app mid way .... yet!
Joshua, awesome shot I love the composition.
Manuel, superb shots!

The last chance I had to look at this thread was Friday. I looked this morning and we had moved from page 1607 to 1613! It seem to take for ever to catch up but I don't really mind because the photos are so good and warrant a proper look.
Summarit-M 2.5 75 on A7R2
Do you think I should have lifted the shadows more in No 2 or retained the difference between the darker and light areas, which is of course what it was like in reality?
Peter, excellent shots! I love the feel to the shot and yes I would raise the shadows to have the detail on the trees, but at the same time I would reduce the very bottom end of the curve, "dark" to have true blacks but still having the detail. This should give more shape and depth to the trees.
Two more shots from Yosemite National Park. These are taken at Mirror Lake, after a moderate hike.
Two slightly different compositions/perspectives. Which one you do you guys prefer?

Great images, Nadim but I prefer the first one by quite a margin.
Difficult to congratualte every deserving picture and 'tog o, this fast-moving thread, but Joshua and Manuel really stand out this time around. Wow!
Nadim, another vote for your first (excellent!) image.
Old Japanese garden (circa 1900). Otus 55 à f:2.8

Nadim, I prefer the first one and... the second one... hard choice so I take both
Philippe, thank you very much for your appreciation

Peter,
Great images, regardless but I would lift the shadow just a tad more if I were you.
I have been to the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles for quite some time and used it quite a bit for lens testing. I was planning of doing so with the Batis 18mm and I went through a few images that I took before trying to refresh my memory on the various angles of this unique structure. I came across a few unprocessed that I knew I never posted before. It was during the period when I wanted to incorporate the sunrise in the image but I never could directly based on the orientation of building. I figured out several ways of still doing so and here is one of them. I just could catch the reflection but the glowing warmth of the sun in Southern California came through enough. Here it is... The lens could be Leica WATE or Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8, I am not sure at this point.
However, the weather pattern in Southern California is in a typical "June Gloom". Gloomy in the morning and the sun would not come out until in mid-afternoon or so. I have to look for a different location to try out the Batis under more favorable real life shooting conditions....Show more →
One of my favorite things to shoot in DTLA. I'll have to share some of my shots from Disney. I tend to go out there once every couple of months.
Great job capturing the light on this one, Joshua. I've actually never made it out there for sunrise though. Now you've got me thinking I need a trip out there this weekend, hehe.
You're not kidding about our current "gloomy" weather. But we have so few days with clouds in SoCal anymore that I have been enjoying this weather a lot. We'll have enough time for sun soon enough.

Thanks! It is some kind of cherry tree. It will blossom only for a few more days. I exaggerated this "unreal" look using Color Efex Pro and Lightroom, but the tree itself is impressive enough
