Several shots from a new to me Tamron 70-200 F2.8 lens that i purchased on B/S . This is their lens with built in VC for mounts other than Sony A.

Do NOT. The tripod foot on Fotodiox will not hold the mass for long. I had Fotodiox and used it with R2 + 24mm TS-E 2, the result: The foot part snapped off and managed to catch camera+lens mid-air before hitting the rocks below. It is really scary how the foot is attached to the adapter body.
2nd issue: Fotodiox is not flocked and needs to be shimmed for proper operation with the TS-E wide angles.
Huh!?
Thanks for the tip.
Sorry to hear you almost dropped the lens! Yikes!
How did the foot "snap off"? Did the screw or base shear off the adapter? Did you come up with a mechanical solution like using Loctite, or JB Weld, if you wanted the foot to stay on permanently? Any other handyman fix-it tips?
The good news is the adapter works properly with the 24 TSE II, which was my main desire. Still need to test AF with my other EF lenses.
I've also got a Commlite EF mount to try, but having slight alignment trouble seating it on the Fotodiox Tough E-Mount Signature Edition LT (may need to get out my small files!). The Fotodiox adapter mounts with slight difficulty. This mount plate might be strong enough to support my lenses, up to 180mm, by simply mounting my tripod hex plate to the camera and not the adapter -- possibly even less vibration.
Anyone have thoughts on the Fotodiox tough mounts? Maybe the thickness of the light tight (LT) version is more than their regular tough mount?
Thanks for the advice. Always a ton of new things to learn with a new brand!
Tried the 24 TSE II this morning on the Fotodiox AF adapter. A big improvement in rendering and detail over the 5D2, as expected! Now my Canon lenses will be more versatile than my Nikon D800e and Nikon mount lenses, if a little more awkward.
First two shots are tripod mounted. The others are all hand held.
How about a 12 image panorama of the Miississippi River in Minneapolis. Nearly 180 degree view with FE55/1.8. The zoom in detail is incredible. Check out the near 1:1 crop of the white building.

Well, this is the week that I dip in my toe and join the society of Sony FF owners. Yes, I know it's taken some time -- waiting for used prices to become more affordable, as I continue to maintain product lines in Canon and Nikon.
Faced with the daunting cost of purchase of a 5Ds/R as the most needed to maintain my Canon lenses, or adding a D810, which isn't that much of an improvement over my D800e, the logical choice seems the original Sony a7R to mount my Canon lenses (especially TSE's), as well as explore my various manual focus lenses, and dabble in Sony/Zeiss native lenses for the brand.
Today the a7R arrived and I started right in checking it out, using two inexpensive Sony lenses: 28-70 OSS kit lens, and the wonderful 28/2. Additionally, I tried one manual focus lens, the FDn 50/3.5 macro.
I'm impressed with the imaging on all the lenses, even the kit lens for what it is. The 28/2 is really pretty fantastic. And the 50 macro is no slouch. That was it for today. Maybe his weekend I can try the Commlite and Fotodiox AF adapters for some of the Canon lenses, especially the TSE's.
It's nice to finally join the party after seeing so much impressive work presented here by so many talented photographers using the Sony FF's.
I'll start with a few from the humble kit lens. Mostly shot wide open to get a feel for the weakest areas. All hand held, quick run & gun style. PP in LRCC....Show more →
Kind of late to post some welcoming words to Jim but not too late and the heck why not . Welcome, Jim! I know you will be a regular contributor here.
Drum Sim, anyone? Just trying the Sony G Master zoom lens out at wide open...
Out today looking for Saguaro Cactus flowers. They are high off the ground and it is best to shoot from a hill side. I shot this with my A7RII any my only long lens, the FE 24-240.

Thanks Joshua! Fun to be here.
Those are some really great examples of close-up and the soft OOF background. Nice Zeiss!
Hey Jim, I remember you very well from the old alt lenses thread where I too was a Canon guy. Missed you and good to have you here so hence a big welcome! :- )
