Lovely portraits Gregg, the closeness and low angle almost make me feel like i was there as well
Its time for me to share something from Norway now. Its been too much Hong Kong lately. This image is actually one of my favourite captures with the A7. And the great thing about it is that it is taken from my balcony. If only every shot had been as easy as this!
It was taken on a very cold day in January. It was -17 degrees celsius (around 0-1 degrees fahrenheit) and I had been out most of the day walking on the fjord. It was probably safe, but I could still hear the ice making bouldering sounds due to the strong current from the water running beneath the icy. When I got home that day, it was probably around 4:45pm, the sun had just disappeared behind the mountains. I saw the brilliant blue sky outside, and run out on the balcony to get a quick shot of it.
The image is captured with Loxia 35. There seem to be a lot of forum members who don't get a long with this lens, but I have to admit that I have been in love with it from day one. Bokeh might be a bit nervous in some settings, but there are so many other positive things that can be said about the lens.
One more winter shot taken with the Loxia 35. My wife calls this area her little fairytale landscape
Did you take those pictures of the eagle in Hokkaido? I was there 4 years ago and we saw a lot of white-tailed sea eagles there. Or are they quite common in Japan?
I posted a few images of the outside of the Colosseum at twilight before. Here are a few images from the inside taken the following morning when the sky was still blue with some clouds. It is hard to minimize the amount of tourists that visit that place in the images....
Amazing images from the colosseum. Great angles on all of them.
Indeed, those shots were taken in Hokkaido. I don't think these eagles are that common in Japan, but we get quite a few in Hokkaido, at least during the winter.
Thank you very much Gregg! I really like yours too, especially the ones of Gio on the previous page. Btw. it's hard to believe that you took those with a 21mm lens. Looks great.
Thank you Helena!

Beautiful yet again Joshua.
Some more landscapes with Loxia 50. First impression of the lens is positive, but I don't want to say anything more until I have had a chance to try it for more demanding subjects than snowy landscapes.
Excuse the less than ideal perspective. I was on a tour and it was a challenge shooting around people (and not dallying as these rooms were only accessible on the guided tour.)
Took the a7rII with the Leica 50 Lux ASPH to Gulf Shores for a little extended weekend. This is easily my favorite walk around camera rig (the color is just ridiculous), but it's not easy photographing my kiddos with a MF lens.
^^^^ Craig?John?....great grabs of the kids! I miss my ASPH. It was by far my fav 50 ever! Haven't shot it in the Rll(I used it on my A7rM(thinner sensor glass) then stupidly sold it
Seems fine on the Rll...
^^^ Nice Gary! God, that lens must be HUGE on the A7x...I remember shooting it on my 1D4, and it was huge on that camera! But the quality is impressive no doubt!!
I had a second Loxia arrive today, a 35 to replace my Ultron 35mm, which the Australian importer agreed was de-centered - as they couldn't replace it, I used the credit towards a Loxia Biogon, and from a visit to my usual test haunts this afternoon, where I shot across a range of distances and apertures, I'm impressed with its performance as a walk-about lens. Thanks for the encouragement, Rene - John
