Days are still just a 3-4 hour sunrise/sunset, but getting longer. It's awesome to listen to the ice cracking. A deep boom, you feel it straight through the body. Very atmospheric.
A7 and CV 50/1.5 (this lens seems to be stuck on my camera lately ).
Your pictures and your reference to the sound of cracking ice remind me the happy end of one of my beloved books from childhood - the "Trollvinter" by Tove Jansson, and the whole of Moomin's fairy-tale beautiful world of imagination.Thank you!
Derek, this is is the MC PF 55/1.7.My last discovery.
I hope you'll have more exceptional children like your daughter and your son to the delight of the world and to show how deftly the moment and the mood can be presented

Harold,
Nice pics. What a small world. I saw you on the side of the road at the exit for Saguaro Lake off Highway 87 shooting the horses on Wednesday. I got a few of the 4 peaks snow as well a little further north.

So jealous! We've had such a warm winter, and much less snow than usual. So many days just around freezing, feels more like spring! The lakes (esp Lake Superior) froze clear last year, due to the lack of snow. So cool - I'd love a winter like that again!

i thought your new acquisition was the 50/1.7 not the 55/1.7 though?
This is the Quileute river just before it meets the sea on the coast of Washington State. Here it separates the fishing village of Lapush to the south from Rialto beach to the north.
#1 -- Shot of my truck window's ice crystals, with the reflection of the sunrise
#2 -- My wife's newest creation, inspired by Julia Child (she also plated/posed the food). 'Free' low-contrast processing because my lens was fogging up from bringing it inside from the cold.
