I think that's a good overall synop on the 24-240mm
I had one and sold it. I was happy with the IQ considering it's a super zoom.
I got the 70-400gii instead, me thinking if I'm carrying that size/weight lens I my as
well carry the focal length(s) I use most often.
Photo taken at 10:38 AM, October 18, 2015 looking from an overlook (Fishers Gap?) at a Mountainside, Shenandoah NP, Virginia. Image taken with my tripod mounted Leica R 180mm f3.4 Apo Telyt lens and my A7r, ISO 200, lens set to about f8 for 1/400 second. Processed in LR6.

Yeah I had the 70-400 version 1 way back when I was an A850 shooter, awesome IQ for that lens, but slow to focus. If only I shot longer more often, I would have picked that up instead of the 24-240, but I rarely shoot past 200mm or so nowadays (and it would be hard to fit that in a retro 5 )
