Out for a morning walk with the dog (and camera!) and found these birds hopping from branch to branch. It gave me a chance to play with the a7R II in APS-C mode with the Sony 70-400 GII with LE-EA3. This is becoming a very nice combo.
I just realized after posting that my camera was unintentionally at ISO 50. I hate it when that happens!

Amazing shots everyone!
Joshua, wonderful shots! I am almost tempted by the FE 90
Relaxing by the pool this afternoon
A7rII 50L and Nissin Di700A. This was great as the lighting had so much glare and contrast.
Thank you, Charles! Yes, it doesn't take much to tempt both you and me. We are very similar to each other in that respect .
Lovely family images there! I really enjoy the 50L now, more so than before and the way you used the flash, subtle but effective, is great!

It seems there are Loxia 21 arriving everywhere in Europe, except where I want it! Nice work, René! And so many other fine pictures, from Werner, Helena, Joshua, Bob, Michiel, MedicineMan, among many others...
ZM 35 f:1.4 on A7R II
Thank you, Philippe! The Eiffel tower shot is excellent! There is a Loxia 21 somewhere with your name on it....
Got my 24-240 in today. I'd like to thank Fed-Ex for not knocking or ringing my doorbell while leaving a $900 item on my front porch At least the delivery was prompt, so that's cool.
My VERY EARLY opinions:
So far -- It's not going to win any awards, besides maybe most-versatile/convenient walk-around lens
Zoom is a little stiff but I like it like that, as it doesn't have a zoom lock. Hopefully it doesn't loosen up too much.
AF on the A7ii is very fast, but so far I've only tried Medium focus box and AF-S.
OSS is okay but I need to do more testing -- hard to beat Olympus in this area and that's the standard I'm comparing the combo to.
24mm - don't expect corner-to-corner sharpness at any aperture, it just isn't going to happen - center sharpness is good but falls off pretty quickly. Should be okay for prints, but pixel peepers will be driven crazy.
50mm-180mm range or thereabouts - Impressive sharpness and the look of the lens can be quite good, depending on subject and shot parameters, etc. Won't win any bokeh awards but up close can be pleasant.
Past 180mm or so -- shots lose a bit of sharpness, but surprisingly not too much. More testing required in this area and really overall.
Initial verdict -- so far, I like it. Great supplemental lens when I don't feel like switching through my 28/55/85 rotation.
Also, barely fits (facing downward) in a Retro 5 with hood reversed and lenscap on, so that's cool
I like the cheery yellow, Werner. Nice to see so many places from "my neck of the woods" that I have never visited, especially liked the container harbour series a few pages back.
Love the astro-shots, medicine man.
Valodia, excellent shot of the man feeding the bird.
Here a couple from Kata Tjuta, taken in August this year. Both A7, not so sure about the lenses - I believe the first one may have been Contax G 45mm and the second C/Y 28mm 2.8. Possibly both with the 28mm.
