I found myself a new 50mm lens in the second-hand listings of a shop here in NZ - a Konica m-Hexanon 50mm which seems to have been a fairly unashamed copy of a Summicron F/2. Its a tiny but very solidly built lens, with beautiful performance wide open - much better than my Canon FDn 50 F/1.4. Stopped down to F/8 it has similar sharpness to the Loxia I compared it with, and very little behind a Sonnar 55mm in the centre, falling slightly behind around the periphery. Here are a few shots from my usual test location - Hamilton Gardens - John.
Hope you guys don't get tired of travel photos. I have a bunch from my trip to Florence and Istanbul! These are from Florence (obviously): The obligatory Duomo shots:
This one with A7r2 and Leica R 180/2.8 apo with 1.4x extender
This with WATE:
This from the same location as the first Duomo shot with FE 55:
Here's a completely fortuitous shot taken while testing the m-Hexanon 50 wide open into the light - don't normally have the ability to get insects in flight like this - John
Amazing pictures everybody. Being extremely busy these days, I haven't had the time to take many pictures and only now have had the time to catch up with this thread.
Rene: Beautiful pictures with the Mitakon. I'd think that f1.2 at 85mm leaves very little room for focusing errors. And to think that I already found the Lux 75 hard to focus wide open, when I had rented one for a few days .
Greggf: Beautiful puppy pictures. Everybody is busy before Christmas, but I'd guess, your job certainly increases the pre-christmas stress by factor 10. Hang in there.
Bob: Those panorama shots inside the church are extremely impressive. Easily worth more than one "like" per person.
Ronny: Amazing pictures of this beautiful German Shepard.
Dave: Great timing and composition on this arch shot with the Samyang.
Helena: Beautiful shots. I see you have no snow either. We had 40cm, before it all melted away following 2-3 days with close to 10 degrees.
Werner: I liked the mood in the Dried III series.
Philipe: Those flower shots with the Otus are amazing. The 3D separation and the colors are particularly impressive.
Joshua: Those "ghost" shots are stunning.
Photo taken at 8:06 AM on August 14, 2015 of a man with a Cell Phone taking photos of 2 Buck White Tail Deer (one in front of the other), Big Meadows, Shenandoah National Park, Virginia. The man was not only getting in the photos of those of us using long lenses to photograph the deer, but he was chasing the deer that were running away from him. I reported his activities to the rangers at Byrd Vistior Center. Image heavily cropped and taken with my tripod mounted Canon new FD 500mm f4.5 L lens and my Sony A7r camera, ISO 200, lens set to f4.5 for 1/1600 second. Processed in LR6.
