René
René, fantastic minimal composition and super mood (!!!)
Unfortunately these pics has been taken last year before Gregg, Wilhelm, Philippe (philber) and all other usual suspects lessons about bokeh and defocus... for sure, if I had visited this exhibition few months later, I would have taken better pictures

Does this include a second exposure for the horizon?

Thank you. No, this was a single exposure with light near the bottom of the image coming from somewhere, but I am not sure of the specific source, possibly the campground or Front Royal but that is some distance away or some of the towns in the valleys below Skyline Drive.
I did have to do a fair amount of work on the image in LR though for this to look as it is here non FM including pushing the shadows, adjusting the exposure, and working for a custom white balance.
Out of the country for a while and struggling to keep up with any forum or thread, just to stop by as I have service and say the Rii + 70-400g2 is holding up well against the 7Dii + 300 2.8 IS II; each has an advantage/disadvantage. Today won as I had to carry for 4 miles (heat/humidity of Costa Rica) so I chose the lesser of the weight evils=Sony, hiking looking for vipers and sloths---but this shot from a couple days ago in Braulio Carillo Nat. Park (we're currently in the Arenal area)-
