Shots this morning
Having the IBIS with the 50L @ f1.2 shots where the DOF is so narrow is wonderful. Previously without AF and IBIS, handheld shots had a much lower hit rate.
The 50L is a great option for a lot of people looking for accurate AF and that "creamy", Leica like glow for certain shots. The lens' character changes again as you stop down it is excellent. In essence you have spectrum of "looks" that you can use. The interesting note, is that I like the look of the 50L better on the A7rII than I did with my 5DII
I purchased the 50L to replace my 50 Nocti f/1.0(Mandler), one of my most used lenses for street portraits. The 50 Nocti f1.0 did not have too many issues on the A7s but on the A7rII I noticed a lot more field curvature which made it almost impossible to nail the near eye focus at f1.0 when it was slightly off center.
For those that are interested, the specs for both the 50 Nocti f/1.0 and 50L are virtually the same weight and size and the 50L is 1/6 of the price and has AF
50L 590gms 85mm x 65.5mm MFD 0.46m
50 Nocti f/1.0 584gms 75mm x 64.5mm MFD 1.00m
There are some incredible shots on here. Ronny, your Iceland shots are making me look for plane tickets, and Bob, your shots of Amsterdam and getting me really excited for work travel next week!
Took a short trip to Minneapolis last weekend before the weather takes a turn for the worse. Took the kit lens and a G 90 with me to keep a fairly light kit. I really like the 90 and am hoping to pick a 45 around Christmas time. Just need to sell some other lenses first...

Wonderful shots Charles. My impression is that the 50L is optimized for mid distances. It's not as sharp at MFD because the lack of floating element but as you shown on these pictures, the background is to die for. Thanks for sharing.
Great grab Derek.
So today while working, I grabbed some snaps of some Halloween Ghouls. Tell me what you think! And, let me know if the last image creeps you out like it does me(the whole time pp'ing the image!)
