The easiest way to get the camera level, at least in most cases, would be to just put it on the ground and that's what I did . I would have not been able to do it without the flip screen, at least without attracting too much attention to myself . That girl was at bench on the left and she went across to what I assume her mom/dad, tasted their ice cream and walked back. So, I just put the camera down and snapped two images. That's one of them that showed a better separation of her and the background. Yes, the cobblestone pavement helped.
Wow, you posted your images while I was typing. Great images there, David! Otus, huh ?

Haha...Frodo has his boring "ring of power", but the Otus is my precious (spoken in Smeagol voice).
Thanks everyone for the congrats - I am just 2-4 weeks away from the start of my extra-early retirement from my "day job" so I can shoot full time (for fun and profit) and hang out here more often. The a7R II was that last gear addition I needed to make. Now I'm all set. Woohoo, cannot wait!

, you and Philippe are the Otus users that post here and that I know off hand right now. Edited: Mike Reid also belongs to the Otus club . I am sure there are others. BTW, my spellcheck tried to correct that word to Otis . I just saw an Otus 55mm offered on the local Craigslist. Tempted but I am not much of MF guy anymore. And that reminds me that I still have my Leica-M glasses, too .
It sounds like you are looking forward to your retirement. I have been for a few years now and never been bored. There are so many things to do, I mean, to take pictures of. We do travel quite a bit and I spend a lot of time at the computer post processing or just simply on-line to my wife's chagrin.......

Excellent B&W images, René. I was in Malaga recently, too. The second image appears to be fairly close to Pablo Picasso's birth house or the current location of the Picasso foundation/museum, no?

Wow Dale, great images. Love the truck. You're making that 35 f/2.8 awfully tempting....
Thanks! Actually the FE 35/2.8 is something of a relief to me. I sold my excellent FE 55 because I already have a variety of old 50's that I really like and I would prefer my new lens investment to be in the 35mm format. The lens is better than my expectations. The image quality is great. The size and weight swayed my attention off the 1.4.
