Thanks for the explanation
However, I like the like system ... .. think it shows some appreciation on the image if you hit the button ...
is virtually impossible to comment on all the images that you like and think is good.
then you must sit and write too much in every post
and then I think people get tired and choose not to comment on the picture even if he or she likes it ?
think anyone who post or upload their images would have some kind of appreciation or feedback .. what is good or what can be done better, etc... otherwise you don't post unless it is scientific tests camera or lens .. comparison etc...

or think I'm wrong ?

I would have 'liked' this response if I could! But I wonder, if we could only have 'likes' with slow loading of pages if it is worth ditching the likes. Then when/if people comment, they are truly impressed with an image. It's like culling your portfolio . . . there are a lot of images you like but only a few really stand out. Of course, I'm with you Ronnie, I would prefer to have it all . . . fast loading pages and the ability to 'like' an image.
There's no reason we can't have both - it's just a matter of getting the design right. I'm obviously not in the position to know how it's set up right now, but there are likely improvements that could be made - from additional hardware resources to minor optimizations, all the way to a large-scale redesign of the forum software. Just a matter of how much time, knowledge, and interest Fred has in finding the solution. I'd be surprised if we get the like functionality back.

Thanks, René, Jim and Gregg fr your kind words. Much appreciated!
Jim, I love your long exposures. The result is spectacular! How long are they actually?
This time of summer such harsh light. This one from my environment via the cheapest of the FE lenses, the 28-70 (well I think it's the cheapest)- Homeland Series #176 by MedicineMan4040, on Flickr
Amazing John! Wow, such a mighty presence, especially #1.
I haven't been shooting much lately. Sometimes life gets in the way. Well, I think it's the +100°F outside that keeps me inside in the nice AC office. I'm extremely looking forward to Fall and all the vibrant colors and cooler weather *cough* cough* that comes with it. For now, some inside shoot'n.

First tests with M lenses and the MKII.
Elmarit 21 (pretty old lens) unusable on the 7 R has much improved, i would it rate as usable, only the very far corners don't clear up, well, they never get really sharp on my Leicas (on the MM they are still a little better than on the MKII).
The same with the Cron 35 asph.
The Cron 28 asph is still bad and it was even worse on the 7R
