First tests with M lenses and the MKII.
Elmarit 21 (pretty old lens) unusable on the 7 R has much improved, i would it rate as usable, only the very far corners don't clear up, well, they never get really sharp on my Leicas (on the MM they are still a little better than on the MKII).
The same with the Cron 35 asph.
The Cron 28 asph is still bad and it was even worse on the 7R
Martin...those 12mm shots are great. They make me feel really, really small!
Werner...congrats on the ll...

A small series...this lens rocks!
Thank you. They were 2 sec exposures, but I was slowly horizontally panning during the exposure, probably 60 degrees or so. To get the apparent resolved ripples, I would stop panning about halfway. The way my hand shake behaved, I got cleaner results stopping panning early rather than starting the motion after pressing the shutter. Your mileage may vary.
I have had good luck with similar approach at night aiming at lighted neon street signs. The Champs Élysées might be a good place to try that.

Thanks, René, Jim and Gregg fr your kind words. Much appreciated!
Jim, I love your long exposures. The result is spectacular! How long are they actually?
Great shots everyone!!! It is hard to compliment shots until we have the like function again. I understand the difficulty as the page was being slowed down considerably. I do hope that Fred can resolve the issue soon
I just received my A7rII, and yet to PP any shots. So far I feel the A7rII is truly worthy upgrade and anyone sitting on the fence unsure, I would suggest try out the camera. I must admit I had all these thoughts and second doubting about my selling off the A7r M, A7II and A7s after reading many comments on the forums.
The camera is superb, and MF with my 50 Noct f/1.0 and 75 Lux is great even on the lower magnification. This is much better than my A7r M IMO for MF focusing. I will try and post some shots later on
This was done with the a7r and DJI a7 gimbal. I don't know how the nex gimbal attaches to the camera, but on this one there are two camera attachment points. One on the base with a tripod screw and then there is a circular "frame" that compresses around the lens, grabbing it. Both are needed to get sharp pics.
While the very proximal part of the 16-35/4 is the same diameter as the 35/2.8 because they have the same mount, the rest of the lens is a much larger diameter and definitely would not fit.
As well, while the tripod screw does have a little room for back / forth movement (maybe 10mm), that is no where near enough rearward travel to balance the weight difference of the 35 and 16-35. The later is much much heavier.
Solutions? You could do some surgery on the a7 gimbal. It would involve metal cutting and some improvising.
The diameter of the 28/2 is 2.52" and the 35/2.8 is 2.42". It *probably* could fit the gimbal, but I haven't tried. If it did then maybe (again I haven't tried) you could hook up the wide angle adapter.
If you fly an s1000 or s900 another gimbal I've seen a few folks hook up is the Ronin-m. I have one of these (the Ronin-m) that I use for hand held stuff, and it can easily balance the a7r or a7ii and the 16-35. Cinemilled is the name of one company that makes the stuff to hook it up to an s1000. I think there are a few others but don't know them off the top of my head. I've been tempted, but so far haven't felt limited enough by just having the 35 to do it.
My other issue is that the DJI a7 gimbal does NOT fit the a7ii or the a7rii. This just kills me as I so want to use it with the a7rii to have internal 4k recording. For this I might either go the surgery or Ronin-m path as even if DJI announced an a7rii gimbal tomorrow it would likely be months away.
I use an S900. It is a bit maddening that the A7RII gimbal will be announced three minutes after I get my A7 gimbal.
With the NEX gimbal there's a lens ring. But since the 10-18 has IS I just don't use it and the shots are sharp. On the NEX gimbal it's easily removable.
I might see how much surgery is required. The alternative is to look into a couple of smaller primes (or even my WATE) that might be easier to use/balance. I'd be happy with an excellent 16-18mm from somewhere, even if I have to use hyperfocal and f8.
The s900 is for stills only as I have an Inspire 1 for video. So far I've managed to prove that as a videographer I make a pretty good stills shooter....
