So, my first foray with the 135/1.8. I am in love. It gives me the wonderful Sony Zeiss color and contrast that I have fallen in love with. These are really more snapshots, but I was looking for certain things: Separation (and 3D pop), Sharpness, Control of CA in high contrast, and bokeh. I am not dissapointed in the least. And the autofocus speed was a pleasant surprise. Not the fastest screw driven lens I have used (80-200 HS G for zooms, 200 HS G for primes), but quite quick and relatively quiet and unobtrusive.
No corrections, all pretty much SOOC from RAW. And some thoughts:
1. 135/1.8 is incredibly shallow DOF. Face detect is not going to be enough for paid portraits. I will have to use DMF.
2. Wow oh wow is this a bright lens. I picked up an extra 1/3-1/2 stop of light (at identical apertures) with this lens over my lovely, and soon-to-be-departed Minolta 100/2. Sony is making the brightest lenses ever, and I am somewhat surprised that apparently no one cards.
3. Even when its slightly out of focus, it still seems pretty sharp for printing purposes of 11x14" or less.
My boy. At 3:1, eyelashes were still pleasantly sharp for a handheld shot.
A tad underexposed, but I like what I saw in the sand and netting for CA and sharpness.
My wife, serving it up.
My son, crashing the cars around with great sound effects.
Photo taken last evening about 20 minutes before sunset near the top of the Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, PA. with my tripod mounted A7r and my Leica M 90mm f2.5 Simmarit lens. ISO 100, lens set to f8 for 1/125 second and processed in LR6.
Second day with my new 90mm Sony G macro..this is the sharpest and easiest to use macro lens I have ever had. I do not have access to my main computer, so these are all jpegs right out of camera..hand held.

+1 René and you are right. It is more difficult to look with new eyes at your own city.

Rene' - Your vision in the Paris B&Ws is simply inspiring!
Bob, Michiel thank you very much.
Cities you I know very well are difficult . eg Bern . my city , very beautifully ! But I can not take pictures here . think have not done a single usable .
I am often inspired by new images of tourists in their own city .
that's why I 'd rather go somewhere
The shots are wonderful on these past few pages. It is very hard to comment when you are pages away from the image on which you are commenting. It must be a time zone issue or just bad personal timing. So many shots deserve comment.
Nothing special to note about these two images except to say they were taken from a sheltered porch during a light shower from the same spot looking in two different directions. A7rM Sony FE 24-240mm
