I am with Ronny on the not jealous of the A7rII business...

Good shots guys!

Yes, Ronny. Let's just say that I'll trade you my newer camera and newer lenses for yours. Just, we have to trade talent, too. Good deal, no?

First impression: the camera body is much better. It feels much more solid and just better. Many things that were poor have been improved, non more so than the shutter.
As to IQ, when I get it right, it is better than the A7R. More resolution, better colours. But, and that is a big but, this camera reveals so much that my keeper rate is down by maybe one third. Too many shots which are shown to be almost right, just not quite. A couple of people I know feel the same way. It is not a camera for dilettantes. Unless they are talented dilettantes, and then I hate each and every one of them...

Phililpe, could you explain by what you mean for "almost right, just not quite?"

Focus is not perfect. My impression is that the A7RII is more discriminating than the A7R as to what is really sharp and what is the gradual transition to OOF. That means the zone of absolute sharpness seems less than with the A7R, and you'd better not miss it! My blog partner Pascal feels the same way, as does another contributor to DearSusan, so I am pretty sure there is "something there" when focusing manually with extremely high resolution lenses. The "other contributor" has AF lenses (FE, Batis), and says he has no problem watsoever with them as regards focus in AF mode.

Thanks for answering that, makes sense, and I thought that what you meant. I found shooting very high res crop bodies (24mpx) were far more punishing than the A7r or D800. Not great news for a purely MF shooter like me, but inevitable I suppose.

it takes same time to get to know the camera .. it will be perfect after a few days
I understand that it will be very sensitive with 42 MP even if you are used to 36MP ... so let it take some time ... you have the perfect MF-lens to use on it
looking forward to the more images

I would echo these views. AF is much easier and more reliable than MF except at long distances or infinity, when DMF is usually necessary. I have mentioned elsewhere that provided you are shooting in raw it is helpful to use the B&W Creative Style with Setting Effect ON in the Live View Display as it allows for much easier MF without the added distraction of colour. This has been my experience with both the Nex7 and A7 although I have yet to test it with the A7R2.

Thank you Philippe
I am excited about the A7rII. In Australia we should physically have them in hand next week by Tuesday. Apparently they are in the warehouse in Sydney and are being shipped

The Batis 25mm is probably the best 25mm I have had!! Having had previously the ZM 25 and 24 Lux, of which the ZM 25 was favourite lens of mine on the M240/M9. The Batis 25 truly fills this gap now!

Shot from this morning.

Had me scared there for a moment about lack of sharpness and results being inconsistent until I read the fact that you're talking about MF and I hadn't realized that you were a predominately MF shooter. Almost made me hit the cancel order button until I realized you were talking about MF. Being a lazy dad of 2, I'm sticking to the native, AF lenses, despite them probably being more expensive and possibly less optically than some MF glass. Maybe at some point I'll pick up a legacy glass or two, but probably just for fun. I know that my GAS is uncontrollable at times, can't imagine what it'll be like if I ever do get deep into MF glass. At that point I could see some divorce papers being served, lol.

Phenomenal page. I like them all, especially Michiel's, bulletlavolta's, Ronny's, aeonsim's, Nehemiah's, and Charles's.

And congratulations once again Philippe! . Lovely shots as well.

I have been busy so didn't have time to take any picture. However, my A7RII arrived in the late afternoon today so I made an exception. I have a vested interest in the RF lens performance on this body so I couldn't wait .

Anyway, on the way back from my usual test site, I took this picture. It's at ISO 1000 but the DR is still phenomenal, truly. I didn't even need to bracket. And darn, the shutter sound of this camera is so lovely. I would say full mechanical shutter is as quiet as my A7s' EFCS. Love the camera, huge step forward really.

Received my new A7RII last night. Only had time this morning for some quick shots on a gloomy cloudy morning. A good chance to see some higher ISO images. Camera set to Auto ISO. All with Zeiss Batis 25/2.

I must say that in the past, I would have been quite reluctant to post images at ISO6400 . . . but . . . not any more!
