One shot from a recent concert. I'd be hoping to see Marriages since getting into their debut EP, but they didn't do much outside the West Coast. This year, they finally did a proper US tour which made it to Minnesota - woot!
Since I had never been to the venue (The Nether Bar, basement of Mill City Nights in Minneapolis, MN) I checked the website for a camera policy. It was the common "no professional audio/video devices are allowed," which is absurd in a number of ways - how do you tell? I'm not a pro, so is any camera I'm using not-professional? Anyway, just in case I shoved the A7 with the Contax G 45mm f/2 in my back pocket, with the Sony FE 28mm f/2 in my other pocket. Once we got past the doors, I put the strap back on and went on my way. If I ever do that again, I'll definitely bring a body cap and keep the A7 and lens in separate pockets. :P

I led a Search and Rescue mission today and took along my trusty a7ii and MD 35-70 macro. I love that $50 lens! It may be the last outing for my a7ii since I have a special package from B&H arriving Friday!!! Here's a photo of today's hero:

I was trying to time things so just the church tower was lit by the sun that had just risen.
This thread is packed with great images. Reminds me every day how I don't miss carrying around the big brick-like camera and lens I used to.
Steve,
Is this the DJI Gimbal? Have you tried putting the 16-35 on it with a rebalance? I still haven't pulled the trigger on an A7 gimbal yet because I don't want to be stuck with 35mm. I had no problems getting an a6000 and 10-18 on the NEX gimbal but I really want to put the A7R in the air.
A few fast pics from the pool yesterday. I apologize for them being all Giovanni...My trusty helper! His brother wouldn't get out of the pool long enough for me to take pics of him!

This is an image taken on June 10, 2015 from an overlook in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia, looking over hills and mountains of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Image taken with my tripod mounted A7r camera and my Leica M 90mm f2.5 Summarit lens, ISO 100, lens set to probably f11 for 1/320 second and processed in LR.

Gordon
Hey Gordon,
This was done with the a7r and DJI a7 gimbal. I don't know how the nex gimbal attaches to the camera, but on this one there are two camera attachment points. One on the base with a tripod screw and then there is a circular "frame" that compresses around the lens, grabbing it. Both are needed to get sharp pics.
While the very proximal part of the 16-35/4 is the same diameter as the 35/2.8 because they have the same mount, the rest of the lens is a much larger diameter and definitely would not fit.
As well, while the tripod screw does have a little room for back / forth movement (maybe 10mm), that is no where near enough rearward travel to balance the weight difference of the 35 and 16-35. The later is much much heavier.
Solutions? You could do some surgery on the a7 gimbal. It would involve metal cutting and some improvising.
The diameter of the 28/2 is 2.52" and the 35/2.8 is 2.42". It *probably* could fit the gimbal, but I haven't tried. If it did then maybe (again I haven't tried) you could hook up the wide angle adapter.
If you fly an s1000 or s900 another gimbal I've seen a few folks hook up is the Ronin-m. I have one of these (the Ronin-m) that I use for hand held stuff, and it can easily balance the a7r or a7ii and the 16-35. Cinemilled is the name of one company that makes the stuff to hook it up to an s1000. I think there are a few others but don't know them off the top of my head. I've been tempted, but so far haven't felt limited enough by just having the 35 to do it.
My other issue is that the DJI a7 gimbal does NOT fit the a7ii or the a7rii. This just kills me as I so want to use it with the a7rii to have internal 4k recording. For this I might either go the surgery or Ronin-m path as even if DJI announced an a7rii gimbal tomorrow it would likely be months away.
