Corey, you should diffuse your light more I’m assuming you used a bare flash?
Bare flash bounced on the ceiling. If I wanted to I could have dragged out my 64" PLM to diffuse it a bit more... but I would have been late for the concert so bare flash it was. I'm happy with these.
I looked too often in this thread with all these beautiful images.
The high price kept my NAS under control, but this week there was a price drop of € 200,00 and there's a cash back action of another € 200,00.
So In a week or so I hope to contribute to this thread as well.
Ohh... ehh... I could get a nice price for my D800E so I traded that one for a D810.
This should keep my NAS down for a couple of months.
Man, was I kicking myself after this session. It was a real good gig so I didn’t want to “ruin” some shots with 1.4 thinking 1.6 would save me.
Man I’m an idiot. I learned my lesson: as soon as you stop down, the bokeh is not the same... only 1.4 gets amazing bokeh. the edges are nice and smooth...
The second image has much better bokeh than the first, even tho they’re different subjects/focus distance.
I've been busy that is why I haven't posted. I did a landscape photography show & sale last week and this week the weather was warm enough to get out snowmobiling so that's what we did. Still my most used lens and still love it as much as I did when I first purchased it.
I miss 85mm like crazy, but the 58 is just too versatile to get rid of. I've been contemplating dumping my D4, getting a D750, and using the difference to get an 85.

I would never make that move. 85G/58G are too close to each other and you will have a hard time choosing which one you'd want; That's the issue I had.
D750 is an ugly looking baby camera compared to the D4 even a D700 seems like a better camera for me.
