Casual snap after lens fine tuning. I know it doesn't take advantage of lens strengths per say, still trying to get this lens but liking so far

I tried Dottune. My range is coming somewhere between +12-30 using tip given to calculate by slightde focussing if rage is going above 20. Above result is @+18 with my std LR sharpen (70/.7/70/20).

I am pretty happy with this result :-)

I just adopted a new kitten yesterday. Needless to say -- she's very photogenic. First shot

You know the best way to show the bokeh characteristic of 58G? Whichever edit you do, slide your clarity to about +25 value.

Photographed 3 families yesterday. I grabbed my pelican case filled with gear.
Attached a 28G on DF and 58G on D3s and for some reason I photographed the ENTIRE session with the D3s/58G (literally all pictures)
The poor unloved DF was just dangling around my waist, not being used. It’s surprising how versatile the 58G is.

On this photo I made a terrible exposure error.
I was shooting manual and the sun came out and the image was overexposed badly.
Nevertheless, after a bit of post work here you go.

Nikon D800, 58/1.4g
f2, 1/1600, iso100.

Just curious if you owned the 50 1.2L before you switched? I think the 58 is pretty similar, but I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I hate making flash obvious, but I couldn't resist crushing ambient to bring out the bokeh

I used the 50L when I shot canon and never really liked the bokeh from it. The 58g is so much better imo.

The amazing thing is seconds earlier I was banging the D4 into the SB600 to get it to turn back on after an 8ft drop off the light stand onto pavement.

Nice earthy tones and gradients. That sensor is just so good.
