I'm a sucker for color. I like both version you posted that pop with color a bit more. Not to say the more muted film look is bad, but I more often than not choose the more contrasty saturated look over the muted color look. Both are great and it just boils down to personal preference.
That said, I have tried VSCO.. Their new version looks good, but the others I have always been dissapointed.
I'm also not too concerned with skin tones. I'd rather sacrifice some skin tones for some wow factor when you first view an image......Show more →
I've spent the past few years chasing an ultra realistic look (basically something like yours) on and off, but always end up fiddling it to death and straying away from it. I figured doing the film look throws it far away from realistic that I won't chase it.

swifty168, nice shots, but you need to correct your WB
Hey Illuxa007,
you're right re: WB. I hadn't realised how different they were from shot to shot, although they were all shot on different nights at different places so no reason for them to all be the same. But having put them together I can see just how different they are.
To be honest I'm not too bothered by them. As Jason points out its highly subjective
The first one is looking a bit red, the second a bit green but the 3rd and 4th conveys the mood pretty much how I remembered it.
Cheers mate.
Hi Jason,
In your first pair of photos, in the top photo (of your wife?) the skin tone seems a bit pale and washed out. So in general I like the bottom photo a bit better but then the colours of her clothing is more vibrant in the top shot.
In your second pair, I like both. They have a different flavour and mood. I wouldn't say one is better or worse, just different although the skin tone I feel is better on the lower shot for the mum and kids but not on the dad.
Now, these are stunning! Amazing. Maybe you can share how you edit your images for some of us? The skin tones are perfect and the edit is nice and simple!

You guys are killing me! This is such an artistic lens for full body and group shots. Do you guys do any landscape shooting with this?
Moreover, for your film (porta 400?) look, what kind of edits are you making in LR to get that effect?
Me? A chopped up vsco preset mixed with a fuji profile.

I like them all Iluxa, except the train track shot - I can't stand shots of women posing on train tracks - one of the top ten dont's in photography.
Hey Nanolicious, here’s another one just to piss you off

Very nice looks like you got a winner in the preset.Im having a lil learning curve on the DF with LR . I just had the DF a few days coming from XT1
The DF and D4 share the same sensor, but the LR profiles for each are quite different; it never made sense. The LR profiles for the DF are much nicer than the ones they have for the D4.
