Few shots taken with the Z6+58mm in Cuba.
Sadly we just returned from Cuba early this morning ourselves. I had my old 28 2.8 AIS with me and hooked my camera camera strap around it when removing the camera from the room safe. The 28 took a 5ft tumble onto the tile floor. It survived without a mark or IQ degradation albeit with a now stiff focus throw.
I chose to bring it and a 50 1.8g at the last last minute along with a 24-120 instead of the 28e and 58g as it was a beach vs touring vacation. I don’t think either of the more expensive lenses would have faired as well as the old 28. Glad I didn’t have to find out.
"It’s this magic ‘je ne sais quoi’ which doesn’t show up on technical charts that so many fans seem to appreciate about the lens."
Excellent review It is interesting those who understand the 58G often are not stuck on f/1.4 and he specifically mentions the sweet spot of f/2.0 to 2.8...
Thank you very much Lance With the latest FW update and new techniques to improve the AF responsiveness has improved the performance of the 58G dramatically. Also the techniques to sharpness the Jpegs is quite different to that of how I have done previously in Lr. The Z6 is different as you have a AA filter on the sensor and requires a different work flow compared to the D850/Z7.

All interesting info. I haven't really tried the Z7 after the FW update other than a few trial shots so, I'm looking forward to any improvement. I can also see that having an AA filter would be different for you after coming off the D850 with no AA filter. Whatever the case, the results are obviously paying off!
Hello, I´ve been watching all those beautiful pictures. I´m a portrait photographer and I´ve been thinking buying a 58mm. 1.4G for about 670$.
I think is a great price... what do you think? Thanks and best regards!

If you can afford it, grab it - it it's in decent condition and working properly.
I found my used Neo-Noct in London only after months of searching. Uncommon and pricey
