The 58 is a crazy diamond. I didn't accept his lack of sharpness at medium distance portraits due to his strong field curvature strange effects. I surrendered. I sold it. I think I'll take the AFS 85/1.4, it's a safer choice, but the focal length of the 58 was more useful for general purpose than the 85.
Now I only have the 24-70/2,8 for general use, his bokeh has nothing to do with 58 and 85.
It's a pity.
Posting last images of 2016 weddings... Farewell D3s bodies, you have treated me well.
This year's weddings will feature D750's along with f/1.4 lenses only.

thats too bad...those 12MP monsters truly had sensational IQ output.
I've been using the 58G to shoot dance rehearsals as well as some shots from the wings in a theater. The combination of the D810's poor AF in low light and the 58G's slow and indecisive AF doesn't make it easy, but when it works, it works.
Okay so now I'm joining the 58mm f/1.4G club. Been wanting this lens for awhile, even though I mostly shoot landscapes and not enough portraits. What can I say, I love bokeh and the way this lens renders it is sooo dreamy. I'm in love with it. I'm going to need more excuses to use it!

No problem - just put it on your camera and leave it there, it works great on landscapes, too.
