But but... I still want that 35mm f/1.4G
Just bought a 35 1.4G. Never owned or shot with one but it's a lens I've always wanted to try. I'll pair it with the 105 1.4E. What's good about the 35 1.4G is it meshes perfectly with my other zooms. I can roll with 16-35 + 105 E or 35 1.4 + 70-200. I have a 35 1.8FX but I'm not too impressed with it...

Dude! Why are you going to play me like that. Now I really really want one. But I don't have the funds for it... I liked the 35 mm 1.8 but I always manage to end up with 1.4 glass lol
I've only had the 58 for a few weeks and am head-over-heels in love. The way it renders is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Thank you so much to everyone in the thread like Elijah, nextelbuddy, Jason Brook, etc for the amazing shots that motivated me to finally spring for this lens. You are all so inspiring!

It's funny, I always owned a 50 of one kind or another yet never seemed to particularly like that focal length. I love the 58 though!
I used to be the same way!!
Summer of 2014 changed that when I saw this one photographers work, mostly done with a 50L and I fell in love with the focal length.
That's when I also bought the 58G; ever since then, it's been my favorite lens ever.
